General Circular – SEBI permits alternative investment funds (AIFs) to participate in the Credit Default Swaps (CDS) (dated 12.01.2023) – SEBI

  • The SEBI has allowed alternative investment funds (AIFs) to participate in the Credit Default Swaps (CDS) market as protection buyers and sellers in order to deepen the domestic corporate bond segment, by prescribing additional conditions for Category I, II and III AIFs for buying/selling CDS, CDS transaction reporting requirements, to implement mechanism for monitoring the compliance, prior intimation to unit holders while taking out unhedged portion, restriction in borrowing , mandatory usage of platform regulated by SEBI or RBI for transparency and to ensure compliance with applicable provisions of RBI.
