- FSSAI has instructed the concerned Food Safety Officers and Designated Officers under the respective jurisdictions to prohibit the manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale, and use of the following single-use plastic items such as candy sticks, ice-cream sticks, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, etc as notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under the Plastic Waste Management Amendment Rules and to ensure effective compliance with the above rules to ensure no packing films are used to wrap/pack sweet boxes by any food business operator, refer attachment for further details.
