- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-Section (3) of Section 1 of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 (34 of 1948), the Central Government hereby appoints the 1st day of September, 2021 as the date on which the provisions of (Chapter IV – Contributions) (except Sections 44 – (Employers to furnish returns and maintain registers in certain cases) and 45 – (Social Security Officers their functions and duties) which have already been brought into force) and Chapters V – (Benefits) and VI – (Adjudication of dispute and claims) (except sub-Section (1) of Section 76–(Institution of proceedings, etc.) and Sections 77- (Commencement of proceedings), 78-(Powers of Employees’ Insurance Court), 79 – (Appearance by legal practitioners, etc.) and 81-(Reference to High Court) which have already been brought into force) of the said Act shall come into force in the entire area of Mayiladuthurai, Vellore and Ariyalur districts in the State of Tamil Nadu, in addition to the already implemented area in the district.
