- The Department of Commerce, vide a notice, stated that Old Basmati rice import quotas under Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement expire on 31 Jan 2024. A new registration process will reallocate unused quotas in 2023 from 1st February, 2024 to 8th February, 2024. Duty exemptions will apply only to certain Basmati rice varieties imported from Pakistan. The deadline for duty exemption certificates in relation to reallocated quota is 15th April, 2024.
